10/29/09 Placer Cross Country sweeps PVL League Titles
Senior Shannon Harcus raced to a course record to lead the Placer girls to the team title. Harcus finished the five-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 24 seconds to take first individually, leading five Hillgals in the top 10.
Kristen Hiatt (20:04) and Erica Steppig (20:25) both finished in the top five for Placer. Jessica Kepfer (21:08) and Kailee Warren (21:08) rounded out the top five.
On the boys side, Placer senior Lucas Stancliff won his third PVL meet of the season, clocking in at 16:18. Senior Gordon Sproul (16:57) placed third and sophomore Christian Finkbeiner (17:09) was fourth as the Hillmen easily beat out second place El Dorado. Senior Andrew Soria (17:33) was sixth individually and junior Jaron Launer (17:35) was eighth.
The Placer junior varsity boys took first place, led by individual champion Cameron Brown, who completed the 3K course in 9:57. Placer’s Christina Winters was the JV girls champion in 12:04 as Placer also claimed the team title.
The Placer boys and girls will both compete at the Sac-Joaquin Section small-school subsection meet Nov. 7 at Angels Camp.
